" 'I the Lord do not change.
So you, O descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed. Ever since the
time of your forefathers you have turned away from my decrees and
have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you,' says
the Lord Almighty."
-Malachi 3: 6-7
Change
We are taught that change is good.
Perhaps that is true in some instances. I know that we as people
change over the years of our lives. Hopefully we are striving to
become all that we can be in order to better serve God and those
around us. I have changed as a man (I pray for the better :) ).
My wife could tell you that I am not the same man that she married.
Marriage, a career, and having three children is bound to cause
some changes. So while change is good in many ways there is another
way that I am glad there is no change. The Lord does not change!
"I the Lord do not change..." (see Malachi 3:
6-7 above) His love for us does not change. His mercy does not
change. We at times turn away from God. We might change the rules
we live by, or try to do things in our own way but that does not
get us anywhere. Our only hope is to return to God. "Return
to me, and I will return to you," says the Lord Almighty."
(Malachi 3: 7) No matter where you have been or where you are
now God will accept you back. Turn your heart to Him.
Truth does not change. We live in a culture that wants to 'water
down' the Bible or belief in God and His Son. Many might try to
change the truth or say that the 'Jesus' of the past could not be
the same as the 'Jesus' of today. But the word of the Lord tells
us different. "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today
and forever." (Hebrews 13: 8) The love that took Jesus
to the cross is the same 'yesterday and today and forever.' His
grace is the same 'yesterday and today and forever.' His challenge
to us to 'take up our cross daily and follow him' (Luke 9: 23)
is the same 'yesterday and today and forever.' Aren't you glad that
some things don't change? I am! We do live in an ever changing world.
We as people go through changes in our lives. But as we go through
these periods of change I pray that our faith will always remain
in the one thing that does not change. "Trust in the Lord
forever, for the Lord, the Lord is the Rock eternal." (Isaiah
26: 4) Change might be good and even necessary but my faith
will remain in the 'Rock eternal!' The One that does not change.
I pray that all is well with you. Please let me know if you have
any prayer concerns or praises. Have a good week and remember to
smile :), the Lord loves you!
In Christ,
Shan D. Hartsough
"Trust in the Lord forever,
for the Lord, the Lord is the Rock eternal."
