"Be joyful always; pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances,
for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."
-1st Thessalonians 5: 16-18

Storming The Throne

Prayer is a powerful thing! This past summer I was in e-mail correspondence with a man who understood this. I asked him how I could pray for him and at this time he had some concerns about his wife and family. He asked me to 'Storm The Throne' for his wife and family. He understood the power and need for prayer. We are given many examples throughout the Bible of the power of prayer and the need for all of us to be in prayer. The greatest example of all is Jesus who prayed at all occasions of His life. Paul encourages us in 1st Thessalonians to 'pray continually...' (see 1st Thessalonians 5: 16-18 above). Do you pray continually? We are also called to pray for each other. Paul begins chapter 3 of 2nd Thessalonians with a request for prayer. "Finally, brothers, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you. And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men, for not everyone has faith. But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one. We have confidence in the Lord that you are doing the things we command. May the Lord direct your hearts into God's love and Christ's perseverance." (2nd Thessalonians 3: 1-5) We need to pray for each other and the Lord who is faithful will 'strengthen and protect' us.

I read a powerful quote in New Man magazine recently. "Fathers, you have no business talking to your children about God until you are talking with God about your children!" WOW! That strikes home to me! We need to be in prayer for our families (spouses, children, etc..), friends, co-workers, etc...Prayer is so important that the Spirit prays for us even when we are not sure of what to pray for. "In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will." (Romans 8: 26-27) Thank you Lord! It is a great feeling knowing that the Spirit is 'Storming The Throne' on our behalf. Knowing that you have people out there that will 'Storm The Throne' for you. Are you willing to 'Storm The Throne' in prayer for others? Try it and see how God will bless your life!

I pray that all is well with you. Please let me know if you have any prayer concerns or praises. Have a great week and remember to smile :), the Lord loves you!

In Christ,

Shan D. Hartsough
