"After Jesus was born
in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from
the east came to Jerusalem and asked, 'Where is the one who has
been born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the east and have
come to worship him."
-Matthew 2: 1-2
Christmas Journey
What is it that you are searching
for? In Matthew chapter 2 we read the story of the Magi from
the east who came looking for Jesus. These Magi were men of wealth
and education. In the time of Jesus' birth that made them important
and powerful. They were at the top of the social ladder. Yet here
they are, on a long journey, following a star in the sky, to find
a child. Why? What do you imagine they were hoping to discover when
they found him? What do you hope to find in your life's journey?
"After they had heard the king, they went on their way,
and the star they had seen in the east went ahead of them until
it stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw the
star, they were overjoyed. On coming to the house, they saw the
child with his mother, Mary, and they bowed down and worshipped
him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts
of gold and of incense, and of myrrh." (Matthew 2: 9-11)
Upon finding the baby Jesus the Magi are overjoyed. They bow down
and worshipped Him. They presented Him with gifts. They had found
what they were looking for! Something that was more valuable than
all their wealth and wisdom. More valuable than anything this world
can offer! They found a Savior! "...I bring you news of
great joy that will be for all people. Today in the town of David
a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord." (Luke
2: 10-11). This Savior and all the hope, peace, love, and joy
that comes with Him is available to you today. Are you searching
for it?
I pray that all is well with you.
Please let me know if you have any prayer concerns or praises. Have
a great week and remember to smile :), the Lord loves you!
