"The Lord bless you and
keep you; the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious
to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace."
-Numbers 6: 24-26
Why?
Why do tragic things happen? Young
and promising lives taken away? Relationships broken or shaken to
the core? Our hearts, minds, and souls cry out for answers when
things happen that we cannot understand. I know that I have often
questioned the 'why' behind things that have happened. It's OK!
It is only natural to question why things happen when we are in
times of sorrow, anger, and fear. God is big enough to take our
questions and more. He is big enough to restore peace to our souls.
"...the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace."
(Numbers 6: 26). Although we may not understand, or be given
clear answers to our questions; we can be sure that God hears our
cries and prayers and wants to bring us healing in these difficult
times. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything
by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests
to God. And the peace of God that transcends all understanding,
will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (Philippians
4: 6-7) We may not know 'why' but we can turn to God and let
His peace come to us.
In difficult, trying times we need to remember that God is our Shepherd.
Our Lord knows us and the pain we feel. "I am the good shepherd;
I know my sheep and my sheep know me- just as the Father knows me
and I know the Father- and I lay down my life for the sheep."
(John 10: 14-15) The very Son of God who laid down his life
for you is there for you in your darkest times. As a shepherd knows
and takes care of his sheep, so will Jesus, the Good Shepherd, take
care of you. This world has nothing to offer that will calm our
souls during trying times of grief. However, you can find rest in
the Lord. "Come to me all who are weary and burdened, and
I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for
I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your
souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." (Matthew
11: 28-30). If you are feeling lost or burdened today, if your
heart is full of questions of 'why' then turn to the Good Shepherd.
He is always there for you. Trust in Him to see you through.
My prayers go out to all who are questioning why in their lives.
Please share with me any prayer concerns or praises in your life.
Have a great week and remember to smile :), the Lord loves you!
In Christ,

"The Lord is my shepherd,
I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides
me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I
walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil,
for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me."
-Psalm 23: 1-4
