"He said, "Go and
tell this people: Be ever hearing but never understanding; be ever
seeing but never perceiving. Make the heart of this people calloused,
make their ears dull and close their eyes. Otherwise they might
see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their
hearts, and turn and be healed."
-Isaiah 6: 9-10
Calloused
We live in a world that is desperately
seeking for the truth. What is the meaning of life? Why am I here?
Is there more to life than what is on this earth? Is there an after
life? The list of questions could be endless. There are so many
'religions' or 'philosophies' that claim they have the 'truth.'
Wouldn't it be something to live your whole life searching for the
truth only to realize in the end that truth has been right in front
of you all along? That is the warning given in the Book of Isaiah.
"He said , Go and tell this people: Be ever hearing but never
understanding; be ever seeing but never perceiving..."
(see Isaiah 6: 9-10 above) Have our hearts become calloused?
We seek and search for 'truth' yet the truth has always been plain
to see. It is found in the Word of God manifested through His Son,
Jesus Christ. Jesus taught through parables in order to fulfill
the prophecy found in Isaiah (read Matthew 13: 13-14
below). The truth of God has always been there but we live in a
world that refuses to see it.
What is the truth? The truth can be found in Jesus. "The
spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach
the good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for
the prisoners and recovery of sight to the blind, to release the
oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." (Luke
4: 18-19) Jesus read these words (which had been written by
the prophet Isaiah in Isaiah 61) to the people in his hometown
of Nazareth. He was rejected there and driven out of town. "In
the beginning was the Word, and the Word was God. He was with God
in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him
nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life
was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the
darkness has not understood it." (John 1: 1-5) Jesus is
the light of the world. He has come to offer us hope and salvation.
He was made the sacrifice for all of our sins. Only through Him
is salvation possible. It is not a matter of knowing the truth (for
I believe that the world knows the truth) but in believing in the
truth. Placing our faith in the truth of God's promises found in
His Son. Are our hearts calloused? Or are our hearts open to God's
truth?
I pray that all is well with you. Please let me know if you have
any prayer concerns or praises. Have a great week and remember to
smile :), the Lord loves you!
In Christ,
