"But God demonstrates his own love
for us in this: While we were still sinners,
Christ died for us." -Romans 5: 8

Actions Speak Louder Than Words

It is a scary reality that actions do indeed speak louder than words. As a football/basketball coach I have often used the following phrase to try and teach some young, perhaps overconfident player of this fact: "You might be able to talk the talk, but can you walk the walk?" The truth is that talking is nothing when compared to the walking (what you do). Now, if actions do speak louder than words lets look at some of God's actions for us. "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5: 8). Or how about John 3: 16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." God did not just 'talk the talk.' He 'walked the walk.' Even while we were still sinners He
offered us an atoning sacrifice, His own Son. God's actions truly speak great volumes of His love for us!

In the same way your actions need to be louder than your words. Remember who is watching! Your children, your spouse, family, friends, a desperate world all have their eyes on you. What are your actions telling them? "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." (Ephesians 2: 8-10). Salvation is a gift from God, thank you Lord! But we are created to 'do good works!' We are called to serve (our actions).

"...for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." "How can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent?As it is written, 'How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" (Romans 10: 13-15) Let your feet 'bring the good news!' Let your lives be the example for all around you. Read Titus 2: 11-14 (below). Let your life reflect that your are one of God's people! Actions do speak louder than words. Let the actions of your life be a clear example of all the God has done for you and all that He has called you to be. Amen.

I pray that all is well with you. Please let me know if you have any prayer concerns or praises. Have a great week and remember to smile :), the Lord loves you!

In Christ,

Shan D. Hartsough

"For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope-the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good."
-Titus 2: 11-14
