"But you, man of God,
flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith,
love, endurance, and gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith.
Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you
made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses."
-1st Timothy 6: 11-12
Fight
In the book of 1st Timothy
the apostle Paul encourages Timothy to 'fight the good fight.' Read
the verses from 1st Timothy 6:11-12 & 13-16 above and
below. How about you? Are you fighting the good fight? Are you being
a warrior for God in your life? Life can 'beat us up' and make us
feel unfit for the fight. I think of a sermon I heard from the preacher
Tony Evans as he spoke at the Promise Keeper event Stand In The
Gap in Washington D.C. He described a scene from one of the Rocky
movies in which the boxer Rocky is fighting a street brawl and getting
beaten badly. As Rocky lies in the gutter, amidst the garbage and
filth, he drifts in and out of consciousness and has a vision of
his old trainer Mickey. Mickey is standing over him screaming at
Rocky to get up and fight on. 'Get up you bum!' Mickey says, 'Get
up because I love you!' Rocky pulls himself up and wins the fight.
Tony Evans describes how Jesus is our 'Mickey' . Standing over each
of us and imploring us to 'get up, because He loves us!' You may
not feel that you have the strength to fight, are worthy of fighting,
or have the talent to fight for the Lord, but none of those things
matter! All you need is a willing spirit. "..., "My
grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."
(2nd Corinthians 12: 9)
Do you want to be a warrior for God? One who fights the good fight?
Then get back in the ring and fight on for Him. When you get knocked
down, then get back up! Remember that you are never alone. "Whenever
you hear the sound of the trumpet, join us there. Our God will fight
for us!" (Nehemiah 4: 20) Through the Spirit of the Lord
you can and will do great things. You may get battered and bruised
along the way but stay in the fight. Your reward? "In this
way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation
for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that
is truly life." (1st Timothy 6: 19) Do you want a life
'that is truly life?' Whether it is the sound of the trumpet or
the ring of the bell that you hear in your life just continue to
fight the good fight! Amen.
I pray that all is well with you. Please let me know if you have
any prayer concerns or praises. Have a good week and remember to
smile :), the Lord loves you!
In Christ,

"In the sight of God,
who gives life to everything, and of Christ Jesus, who while testifying
before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, I charge you to
keep this command without spot or blame until the appearing of our
Lord Jesus Christ, which God will bring about in his own time-God,
the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords,
who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light whom
no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and might forever. Amen.
