"With God we will gain
the victory, and he will trample down our enemies."
-Psalm 60: 8
Victory
Life is often made up of a series
of trials that end in victories or defeats. Coaching football has
taught me that victory is not something easy to achieve and that
at times we go through periods of defeat. We need to be able to
handle both in our lives. But the amazing thing is that sometimes
what turns out to be a victory doesn't at first appear to be. What
might look to the human eye as utter defeat, may in fact be the
greatest victory the world has ever known. "And when Jesus
had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit."
(Matthew 27: 50) Jesus has died. Crucified by the Romans on
request of the Jewish Sanhedrin. In the eye's of man the game is
over. And the funny thing is, without even realizing what they were
doing, it was the people of this world who had lost. But God's ways
are not our ways! "Suddenly Jesus met them. 'Greetings,'
he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshipped him,
'Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there
they will see me.' " (Matthew 28: 9-10) Who would have
thought that the death of Jesus on the cross was in fact a victory?
Yet with his resurrection, Jesus achieved a great victory for us
all!
"When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable,
and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written
will come true: 'Death has been swallowed up in victory.' "
(1st Corinthians 15: 54) The greatest victory of all time has
already been won! No matter what situation you may face. No matter
how desperate it may seem. Remember, in your life, that if you feel
like you are at the point of defeat, that God's victory is just
a prayer away! "But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory
through our Lord Jesus Christ." (1st Corinthians 15: 57).
Thank you, Lord!
I pray that all is well with you. Please let me know if you have
any prayer concerns or praises. Have a good week and remember to
smile :), the Lord loves you!
In Christ,
