"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it."
-Matthew 7: 13-14

Which Path?

Which path are you on in life? "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." (Matthew 7: 13-14) Jesus tells us that the path to Him (life) is 'narrow.' Are you on it?

In my life I have traveled many paths. It seems that there are always forks in the road and we have to choose which way we go. A good friend of mine once described her journey in life as 'having traveled many paths, some of them the wrong ones, even intentionally going down the wrong path, but that 'something' always led her back to God's path.' I know what she means. Many of us can relate to this kind of journey in our own lives. I think back to some of the choices I have made, paths I have traveled. But praise God for his great love, mercy, and that guiding hand that leads us back to Him. When John the Baptist was born his father, Zechariah, was filled with the Holy Spirit and sang a song "...to give his people knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins, because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace." (Luke 1: 77-79)

So which path are you traveling? The wide or the narrow one? The path to Jesus is narrow but it leads to life and peace. Silly to think that I sometimes choose to travel the wide and easy path, yet I do. So how do I find the narrow path again? How do we find our way back to God's path? "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path." (Psalm 119: 105) God's Word is our guide. Spend time studying His Word. Spend time in prayer. And no matter where you are in your life's journey, He will lead you back to His path.

Take a moment and encourage someone this week.

I pray that all is well with you. Please let me know if you have any prayer concerns or praises. Have a great week and remember to smile :), the Lord loves you!

In Christ,

Shan D. Hartsough
