"I saw heaven standing
open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called
Faithful and True."
-Revelation 19: 11
What's Your Vote?
I was thinking recently about the
current Presidential campaign that is going on. Both candidates
are trying to persuade voters to their side so that they will win
the election coming in November. One of the major issues in the
election is security and safety for Americans and our country. Each
candidate has tried to show that they are the one needed to make
the tough decisions when it comes to security and safety. They each
try to convince us voters that they will make the best Commander
in Chief for our nation.
While this coming election is important to the future of the United
States and we should each get out and cast our vote for the side
of our choosing, I couldn't help but wonder what God thinks about
all this fuss. For He has already given us the best Commander in
Chief that we will ever need. His Son, Jesus, who has won for us
the way to salvation.
While having a strong security leader and looking out for safety
are important things, your eternal salvation is much more so. When
I look at Jesus as the Commander in Chief of my life and salvation
I see Him as the 'rider on the white horse' (Revelation 19: 11
above). "He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and
his name is the Word of God. The armies of heaven were following
him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and
clean. Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike
down the nations ..." (Revelation 19: 13-15) What power!
What authority! In Jesus we have someone that has gone toe to toe
against Satan, the world's worst adversary, and defeated him. In
facing temptation by the Devil Jesus replies, "It is written:
'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes
from the mouth of God.' (Matthew 4: 4) What knowledge! True
wisdom!
In Jesus, we have a Commander in Chief who was (and is) willing
to lay down His all for His people. "I am the good shepherd;
I know my sheep and my sheep know me-just as the Father knows me
and I know the Father-and I lay down my life for the sheep."
(John 10: 14-15) What love! What compassion! In Jesus, we have
a Commander in Chief who will see the struggle through to the very
end, even to a violent death upon a cross. "Jesus called out
in a loud voice, 'Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.'
When he had said this, he breathed his last." (Luke 23: 46).
What dedication! What sacrifice!
The election coming this fall is important for the times that we
live in but oh how insignificant it is when compared to eternity
and God's plan for us all! Go and vote however your conscious leads
you. But remember the truly important 'vote' in your life (and for
salvation) is the one that you cast or don't cast for Jesus as your
Lord and Savior. As for me, I'll place my faith in and cast my vote
for Jesus. My Commander in Chief for all eternity. Amen!
Take a moment and encourage someone this week.
I pray that all is well with you. Please let me know if you have
any prayer concerns or praises. Have a great week and remember to
smile :), the Lord loves you!
