"The Lord is my strength
and my song: He has become my salvation. He is my God and I will
praise Him, my father's God and I will exalt Him."
-Exodus 15: 2
The Anchor Holds
Where does your strength come from?
Moses knew where his strength came from. In Exodus 15: 2 (above)
the Israelites are praising God in song. The Lord had just delivered
them from the hands of the Egyptians by parting the Red Sea and
letting the Israelites cross on dry ground. They had just witnessed
a miracle of God and knew that He was the source of their strength.
Is that God the source of your strength today?
We all at times go through periods of suffering, sadness, and difficulty.
Who has not experienced pain and suffering at some point in their
life? Perhaps you are facing difficult times right now? Where do
you find strength in times such as these? The world says 'be strong.!'
'Put on a brave face!' 'Don't be weak or foolish!' Yet Paul writes
in 1st Corinthians 1: 25, "For the foolishness of God is
wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than
man's strength." Are we foolish enough to put our trust
in the Lord? Are we weak enough to find our strength in Him?
Ray Boltz, a great Christian artist, perhaps describes the strength
we can find in the Lord best in his song, 'The Anchor Holds.' Here
is the chorus to that great song:
"The Anchor holds though the ship is battered.
The Anchor holds though the sails are torn.
I have fallen on my knees,
As I face the raging seas.
The Anchor holds in spite of the storm."
There are so many people in our community, nation, and world who
are facing the storms of life. My heart aches for those who do not
know the Lord, the 'Anchor that holds though the ship is battered.'
As we face times of suffering or uncertainty, we can be thankful
that the Lord is there for us. As the prophet Isaiah wrote in Isaiah
40: 31 (below) "...but those who hope in the Lord will
renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they
will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
The Lord, your Anchor, is there for you. Take this truth and share
it with someone this week. Let them know that in trying times there
is a place to find strength. A place to find an Anchor that holds!
I pray that all is well with you. Please let me know if you have
any prayer concerns or praises. Have a great week and remember to
smile :), the Lord loves you!
In Christ,

"...but those who hope
in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint."
-Isaiah 40: 31
