"But the gift is not like the trespass. For if many died by the trespass of one man, how much more did God's grace and the gift that came by the grace of one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!" -Romans 5: 15

Bet Your Life?

The book of Romans is one of my favorite in the New Testament. Paul is presenting the Gospel to the Roman Church. In Romans Paul outlines God's plan of salvation and righteousness for all mankind. In this book, Paul is writing about the tremendous grace of God! Something that each and everyone of us needs!

How thankful I am for the grace of God. I can honestly tell you that I am nothing but a sinner saved by the grace of God. If our faith is based on legalism or proper works then we are all in trouble. Praise God that it is not! None if us are good enough to earn salvation (see Romans 11: 6 below). But we have a Lord & Savior who has offered salvation to us through His sacrifice. All we need to do is accept this gift and let it work through our lives.

I am not much of a betting man. OK, I do enter the occasional NCAA college basketball pool and once every two or three years I might actually purchase a lottery ticket. I do know that there isn't anything that I would bet my life on, especially my ability (or lack there of) to earn salvation. "What then shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?" (Romans 8: 31). God is on our side, whether we are right or wrong, because even when we are wrong, he still loves us. When it comes to God's grace I'll bet more than my life; I'll gamble my eternal salvation. Are you willing to take that bet?

I pray that all is well with you. Please let me know if you have any prayer concerns or praises. Have a great week and remember to smile :), the Lord loves you!

In Christ,

Shan D. Hartsough

"And if by grace, then it is no longer by works; it were, grace would no longer be grace." -Romans 11: 6
