Jesus replied, "Foxes
have holes and birds of the air have nests,
but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head." -Matthew 8: 20
Nowhere Man
Can
you remember that Beatles song, Nowhere Man? Some of the lyrics
from that song go like this: "Doesn't
have a point of view, Knows not where he's going to, Isn't he a
bit like you and me?' Or how about: 'He's
as blind as he can be, Just sees what he
wants to see...' The chorus of that song goes:
'He's a real nowhere man, Sitting
in his Nowhere Land, Making all his nowhere plans for nobody.'
Does that sound like anyone you know? Have you
ever felt like a 'nowhere man?' The world seems full of people
who seem to have no direction in life. Many who lack focus,
vision, or purpose. I do not believe that this is God's plan
for His most prized creation, man and woman.
The
ironic thing is that the Lord and Savior that I praise and worship
was in essence a 'nowhere man' himself. Jesus
replied, "Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests,
but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head."
(Matthew 8: 20) Jesus was a wanderer.
He didn't have any possessions or own any property. You might
even question the crowd he tended to hang out with, the Pharisees
did. "While
Jesus was having dinner at Matthew's house, many tax collectors
and 'sinners' came and ate with him and his disciples. When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples,
'Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and 'sinners?' " (Matthew 9:
10-11) Jesus' reply to their question says
a lot about our 'Nowhere Man.' On
hearing this, Jesus said, "It is not the healthy who need a
doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: 'I
desire mercy, not sacrifice. For I have
not come to call the righteous, but sinners." (Matthew 9: 12-13)
Jesus
came to save all the 'nowhere people' ('sinners') in our world.
People like you and me. And our 'Nowhere Man,' Jesus, can
reach everywhere! Isaiah
6: 3 reminds of this. And
they were calling to one another: "Holy, holy, holy is the
Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory."
The WHOLE earth is filled with His glory!
In the book of Job the 'limits' of the Lord are pointed out. "Can you fathom the mysteries of God? Can
you probe the limits of the Almighty? They are higher than
the heavens- what can you do? They are deeper than the depths
of the grave- what can you know? Their measure is longer than
the earth and wider than the sea." (Job
11: 7-9) You see, there IS NO LIMIT to our
Lord! There is no place that His power cannot penetrate.
There is nowhere that His mercy and grace won't work. There
is nowhere that His love cannot go. Jesus, our Nowhere Man,
came to earth, lived, and died for
us. He is with us still today, "...And
surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (Matthew 28: 20) I'll place my
faith in Him. How about you?
Take
a moment and encourage someone this week.
I
pray that all is well with you. Please let me know if you
have any prayer concerns or praises. Have a great week and
remember to smile :), the Lord loves you!

Christ,
