"As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him."
-2nd Samuel 22: 31

God's Way

God's way of doing things does not always make sense to us but it always works. How do you think Joshua felt about God's plan for delivering Jericho into Israel's hands? Read Joshua 6: 1-20. Marching around a city blowing trumpets and shouting doesn't look like sound military strategy in my mind...but it worked! The walls of Jericho came tumbling down. Or how about Gideon? He had a large, enemy Midianite army to face and yet God keeps telling him to make his own army smaller and smaller. Read Judges chapter 7. The plan? Take 300 men against the Midianite force of thousands, and blow trumpets and light torches in the middle of the night. Crazy? It worked!

What about some New Testament examples? How do you think the twelve disciples felt when Jesus sent them out to preach the Kingdom of God? "...Take nothing for the journey-no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, no extra tunic." (Luke 9: 3) Now that sounds like a bit much too ask! Go on this trip and do the job that Jesus has assigned them but take absolutely nothing for the journey? Talk about needing to trust the Lord! Or how about Ananias in the book of Acts? He is told by God to go to Saul (Paul) and place his hands upon him so that the Holy Spirit may heal Saul (Acts 9: 10-19). Of course Saul had been on his way to Damascus, Ananias' home, to arrest and persecute believers like Ananias! I'm sure Ananias had doubts about what God had asked him to do, but he obeyed. Saul of course became Paul, a great missionary and the author of much of the New Testament.

God's way does not always make sense to us. But it does always work! Are there things in your life that you are not sure about? Turn them over to God. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding." (Proverbs 3: 5) Have faith and believe that even though it may look crazy (or even hopeless) that God's way will prevail.

Take a moment and encourage someone this week.

I pray that all is well with you. Please let me know if you have any prayer concerns or praises. Have a great week and remember to smile :), the Lord loves you!

In Christ,

Shan D. Hartsough

"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me."
-John 14: 1
