"On his robe and on his thigh
he has this name written: King of Kings And Lord of Lords."
-Revelation 19: 16
A King Was Born
The Christmas season is with us.
It is one of my favorite times of the year. A time to celebrate
the birth of Jesus. On that special night many years ago a King
was born. Not many in the world realized the significance of that
birth at the time but there were some who did. The shepherds knew
it. "When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the
shepherds said to one another, 'Let's go to Bethlehem and see this
thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.' "
(Luke 2: 15) The magi, or wise men, knew it. "When they saw
the star, they were overjoyed. On coming to the house, they saw
the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshipped
him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts
of gold and of incense and of myrrh." (Matthew 2: 10-11) Simeon
knew it when Jesus was presented at the temple (read about Simeon
in Luke 2). "Simeon took him in his arms and praised God saying:
'Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you now dismiss your servant
in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared
in the sight of all people, a light for revelation to the Gentiles
and for glory to your people Israel.' " (Luke 2: 28-32)
Jesus had a King's lineage. He was born into the family line of
David, one of Israel's greatest kings."...and Jacob the father
of Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called
Christ. Thus there were fourteen generations in all from Abraham
to David, fourteen from David to the exile to Babylon, and fourteen
from the exile to the Christ." (Matthew 1: 16-17) The birth
of Jesus, the King, had been prophesied throughout the Old Testament.
"In Bethlehem in Judea, they replied, 'for this is what the
prophet had written: But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are
by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will
come a ruler who will be the shepherd of my people Israel.; "
(Matthew 2: 5-6) Do you believe that Jesus is that King? That is
one of the greatest miracles of the Christmas season that God would
send His Son into the world as a baby, born in a small town, born
in a stable, 'lying in a manger.' Not the entrance into this world
that a king would deserve. But I am so thankful for the birth of
that child on that night many, many years ago. The King of the world
and heaven, the source of our salvation! Let's be sure to praise
and worship Him this Christmas season. Amen!
Take a moment and encourage someone this week.
I pray that all is well with you. Please let me know if you have
any prayer concerns or praises. Have a great week and remember to
smile :), the Lord loves you!
In Christ,

"Today in the town of David
a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will
be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying
in a manger."
-Luke 2: 11-12
