"Your love, O Lord, reaches
to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. Your righteousness
is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the great deep."
-Psalm 36: 5-6
Mountains
The Christian rock group, Third
Day (one of my favorites :) ), has a song about Psalm 36 (verses
5-6 are above). It is a great song, one of many by Third Day
that I enjoy listening to. Psalm 36 was written by King David.
You can read about his life in the Old Testament Books of 1st
& 2nd Samuel. David was not a perfect man. None of us are!
But David loved and trusted the Lord. There were many 'mountains'
(obstacles, dangers, etc...) that David had to overcome in his life
and he put his faith in God to see him through. The same God that
David wrote his psalms to thousands of years ago is the same God
of today. Our Lord knows you and the 'mountains' that are in your
life. He loves you and the words of Psalm 36 are still true..."Your
love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies..."
Remember, that this Lord that David is writing about, is the same
Lord who is with you every day. He is faithful!
Picture Mount Everest, the largest mountain in the world, in your
mind. What a mighty obstacle. Many explorers have tried to 'conquer'
and climb Mount Everest. Some have succeeded, many more have failed.
Perhaps there is a 'Mount Everest' in your life right now. A mighty
obstacle that you are trying to conquer. Jesus tells us in Matthew
17: 20-21, "...I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small
as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here
to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."
As you go through the coming week may I pray that you will rely
on your faith to help you overcome the 'mountains' that may be in
your life. Life can be full of mountains but our Lord is faithful
and if we trust in Him the mountains will be conquered. If we only
have 'faith as small as a mustard see' our mountains will move from
'here to there.' God is in the business of doing the impossible...for
those that allow Him to. Will you let Him work on the mountains
in your life?
I pray that we will all trust in God and allow our mountains to
be conquered. Then one day may we be among the 'many nations' who
'go up to the mountain of the Lord.' (Micah 4:2) Amen!
Take a moment and encourage someone this week.
I pray that all is well with you. Please let me know if you have
any prayer concerns or praises. Have a great week and remember to
smile :), the Lord loves you!
In Christ,
Shan D. Hartsough
"Many nations will come
and say, 'Come let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the
house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we
may walk in his paths.' The law will go out from Zion, the word
of the Lord from Jerusalem."
-Micah 4:2
