"Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: 'Now have come our salvation and the power and the kingdom of God, and the authority of his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down. They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony;...'
-Revelation 12: 10-11

Blood Of The Lamb

The Book of Revelation reminds believers that the final showdown between God and Satan is imminent. Satan will increase his persecution of believers but we must stand fast. We are sealed against any spiritual harm and will soon be vindicated when Christ returns. In Revelation 12 we read about the dragon..."Then another sign appeared in heaven an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on his heads. His tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth." (Revelation 12: 3-4) The dragon is a 'monster,' that is insurmountable, overwhelming, and unbeatable. Yet the dragon is NOT victorious! Read on..."They overcame him (the dragon) by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony;... (Revelation 12: 11) While these versus are describing the ultimate showdown that will take place between God and Satan, I believe that they are just as relevant to each of our lives today. Some of us may be facing problems in our lives that seem like the 'dragon,' ready to sweep us away, but don't lose heart! The dragon, our problems, may overwhelm us but they cannot stand up to the Lamb of God and the word of the Lord...'overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony;...' I urge you to turn to Him (the Lamb, God's Son) and the word (the Bible) for victory! 'The word of their testimony;...' I know that my testimony will be that I am nothing without Jesus. If you feel like the dragon is overtaking you then I urge you not to despair and not to get discouraged by your problems, even the dragon-sized ones, for God is on your side! The battle has already been won for you by the Blood of the Lamb!

Impossible? From a worldly viewpoint, yes. How could a lamb defeat a mighty dragon? God's Lamb is no ordinary Lamb. He is the very Son of God who was sacrificed for us. God's Lamb is also a Lion..."Then one of the elders said to me, 'Do not weep! See the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the root of David, has triumphed...' (Revelation 5: 5) The Lamb and Lion are one and the same, Jesus, and He is on your side! "And there was a war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. The great dragon was hurled down to the earth and his angels with him." (Revelation 12: 7-9) This war that was fought in heaven in now being fought on earth. It is a war for our souls. It manifests itself in our lives through our 'problems,' 'struggles,' 'weaknesses,' etc...But remember, the Lamb of God is able to overcome all of your 'problems,' 'struggles,' 'weaknesses!' "...The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign for ever and ever." (Revelation 11: 15) Just as the dragon lost the war in heaven, so to will he also lose the war for this world. He will lose his war for you. Turn to the Lamb. He has defeated the dragon and is able to restore all who belong to Him. Trust in Him! Amen.

Take a moment and encourage someone this week.

I pray that all is well with you. Please let me know if you have any prayer concerns or praises. Have a great week and remember to smile :), the Lord loves you!

In Christ,

Shan D. Hartsough

"The seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven which said: 'The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign for ever and ever.' "
-Revelation 11: 15
