"Give thanks to the Lord,
for he is good; his love endures forever."
-1st Chronicles 16: 34
Forever
How long is forever? Let's look
at some examples to try and put 'forever' into perspective. Imagine
all the oceans and seas of our world being filled one drop of water
at a time until they are filled up. Forever is longer than that.
How about the world's deserts? The Sahara Desert, in North Africa,
by itself is larger than the United States. Imagine the world's
deserts being filled one grain of sand at a time. Forever is longer
than that. How about the world's tallest mountain, Mount Everest?
Mount Everest has an elevation of 29, 035 feet. Imagine that mountain
being built one pebble at a time. Do you get the idea? Forever is
a long time!
So what do we know about forever? We know that God is eternal and
that we can trust in Him! "Trust in the Lord forever, for the
Lord, the Lord is the Rock eternal." (Isaiah 26: 4) We know
that God's Word is eternal! "...but the Word of the Lord stands
forever." (1st Peter 1: 25) We know that the Lord reigns forever
and that He is the judge of mankind! "The Lord reigns forever;
he has established his throne for judgment. He will judge the world
in righteousness; he will govern his peoples with justice."
(Psalm 9: 7) We know that God's love endures forever! "Give
thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever."
(Psalm 136: 1 ---take a moment and read Psalm 136). God is eternal,
so is His Word, His reign, and His love. Not only is our Lord eternal
but He is also unchanging! "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday
and today and forever."
(Hebrews 13: 8)
What is life on this earth when compared to eternity? "For:
All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers
of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall," (1st
Peter 1: 24) Our time on this world is brief but we will all spend
an eternity somewhere. Where do you want to spend eternity, to spend
forever? "Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from
me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil
and his angels.' " (Matthew 25: 41) That's one option. But
there is also another option..."But you have come to Mount
Zion, to the heavenly Jerusalem, the city of the living God. You
have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly,
to the church of the first-born, whose names are written in heaven..."
(Hebrews 12: 22-23) Two choices available to all mankind. The choice
is yours and yours alone. What do you choose? Where do you want
to spend 'forever?' I pray that all of us will remember this. "For
God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever
believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God
did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to
save the world through him." (John 3: 16-17) Praise God for
that gift! Place your faith in Jesus and spend forever with Him.
Take a moment and encourage someone this week.
I pray that all is well with you. Please let me know if you have
any prayer concerns or praises. Have a great week and remember to
smile :), the Lord loves you!
