Before entering full-time ministry, Dwayne spent 25 years working in the secular world. Right out of high school, he took a flooring job in a factory for one year, followed by ten years building wooden caskets. He then joined a wastewater treatment plant, where he worked for 14 years. Starting with manual labor digging ditches, Dwayne progressed to laboratory testing, then into management, eventually becoming plant superintendent.
During this time, Dwayne was also taking classes both for his professional role and for ministry. After three years of ministry training, he was licensed and ordained as a pastor. While continuing his job at the plant, he began serving part-time as a pastor at his local church. Three years later, Dwayne felt a clear call to full-time ministry and committed to follow wherever the Lord led. That call brought him and his wife Karen to Maple Grove Church in Indiana, relocating from Pennsylvania.
Dwayne began his pastoral role at Maple Grove in September 2003 and later earned a bachelor's degree from Omega Bible and Seminary. Since then, he and Karen have felt truly blessed to serve as full-time pastors.
Dwayne has a deep burden for those who do not yet know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. His heart’s mission is to love God and love others—believing that true ministry flows from that foundation.
At Maple Grove, we hold firmly to the inerrancy of Scripture: "God said it, we believe it, and that settles it." Dwayne's priority in ministry is to share the Gospel both within the church and beyond, while continuing to grow personally in his walk with Christ, alongside the congregation. This growth is pursued through five key practices: the Bible, prayer, worship, fellowship, and witness. By living these out, the church grows closer to God and to one another.
